Private Nursing

Whether due to the ineviatable ageing process, illness or a recent operation, many people find themselves requiring some level of care at home. Often this is provided by a partner of family member, but sometimes there is no one available or a little extra help is required.

Private Nursing agencies can tailor the help that they give to your situation and can usually combine nursing and domestic care as appropriate.

Retaining our independence in familiar surroundings is often preferable to prolonged hospital care or care provided by a residential home.

From medical needs to simple assisted living arrangements, private care providers are available to help you.

Of course there is a cost involved and most people deal with this either from their own means which could be from income, savings, or perhaps by releasing equity from their property. Depending on circumstances, you could qualify for direct payments from Social Services or NHS continuing care via their local authority.

The range of assistance needed and provided is as diverse as the people needing help and could be:

Personal Help:

  • personal care
  • driving
  • getting around
  • prompting medication
  • personal security
  • meal preparation
  • light housework

Medical Care:

  • a need for regular assistance by a Registered Nurse;
  • osteoporosis;
  • continence issues;
  • loss of sight or hearing;
  • a physical incapacity;
  • mobility problems;
  • motor neurone, multiple sclerosis or other chronic illness
  • stroke or paralysis;
  • Parkinson’s disease or Huntington’s chorea;
  • a form of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease or other older-age mental health problem;
  • an acquired brain injury;
  • had a recent operation;
  • a terminal illness.

Peoples’ conditions and requirements may change over time so when sourcing your help initially choose a provider who is flexible enough and sufficiently resourced to deal with this.
